The Timbers and Thorns have both been recognized by the Portland Business Journal’s 2019 Commercial Real Estate Transformer Awards for the renovations and expansion of Providence Park.
The awards are given to projects which are believed to be leading the way in design and function, as well as those having an impact on the regional development landscape.
The 20-month transformation of Providence Park added 4,000 new seats – increasing the capacity to a total of 25,218.
Even with the expansion, the Timbers were able to continue their sellout streak to 161 games with a total average of 25,218 supporters. The Thorns came in right behind with an average of 20,098 which set a new attendance record. Both clubs set new records and found themselves ranked in the top ten across professional soccer teams in North America.
