Today the Portland Trail Blazers made a surprise trade for Atlanta’s Kent Bazemore. They send Evan Turner and his ridiculously large contract out to make room for Bazemore.
“Kent is a two-way wing that adds depth to our perimeter, is an excellent fit with our returning players and will transition seamlessly to our style of play,” said Blazers General Manager Neil Olshey. The trade was first announced via a Woj Bomb this morning.
Bazemore is a guard/forward that can play four positions depending on the lineup. He’s best out on the wing as a three and D type of player. Bazemore is a career 35% shooter from three and that goes along with his 8.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
This move frees up a tiny bit more cash to try to bring back Rodney Hood, but as of now the Blazers can only sign Hood to the mid-level exemption.
Free agency is only a few days a way and the cash strapped Blazers are probably not done making moves yet.
