In a shocking move the Portland Trail Blazers have resigned Rodney Hood to a two year and $16M deal. The deal includes a player option.
Last week the Blazers traded for Kent Bazemore as an insurance policy in case they lost Hood in free agency, which everyone and their mother expected them to happen.
The Blazers only had the mid-level exemption to use on any free agents this off season and this deal is a couple million over that limit. So one would have to think a deal of either Maurice Harkless or Meyers Leonard is coming to make room for this signing.
Hood was expected to get a bigger deal after his big performance for the Blazers in the playoffs. This was one deal I was hoping that the Blazers could pull off and they found a way to get the deal done. I’m guessing that Hood is now slotted into the start small forward spot with Bazemore backing him up.
It will be interesting to see what the Blazers do next.
