According to Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports, three teams are in the mix for the Jaguars’ two-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. These teams include the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Seahawks are no strangers to entering themselves into the mix for standout players. This was proven true this season by signing Jadeveon Clowney as well as flirting with the idea of acquiring Antonio Brown. While the offense seems pretty set, defense–the secondary especially– have been on the receiving end of some criticism. Adding Ramsey would somewhat solidify the Seahawks secondary, playing opposite of Shaquill Griffin.
What would it cost? Well, the Jaguars have made it clear they want at least one 2020 first-round pick. Rumors have surfaced that a few teams have offered a first-rounder and either a player or another draft pick in 2021. Nothing has come to fruition as of yet, but I speculate they Jaguars are shopping around. They supposedly have asked the Eagles for Zach Ertz.
Ramsey is signed through 2021 and it has been known the Jags will not extend him. He is set to earn $4 million this season, but if he signs elsewhere, that number should rise substantially since he is considered one of the top corners in the NFL. He asked to be released following an altercation with head coach Doug Marrone on Sunday during a game against the Texans.
